Showers

Showers require particular materials and sealants to render them completely waterproof. Traditional Venetian Plaster is not suitable, but there are plenty of Italian Plaster finishes still available, such as Marble, Textured, Pietra Spaccata, PietraLevigata, etc.

Microcement is another excellent option.

Vanity Tops

For vanities the best option to go for is Microcement. It’s tough and durable, flexible, and can be rendered completely waterproof and stain resistant. It’s also available in a wide variety of colours and finishes.

Another option is Moroccan Tadelakt, a lime plaster that is polished with a smooth stone then sealed using olive oil soaps and wax. It’s a unique and genuinely artisanal finish.

Both of these products can also be used on sinks themselves!

Bathroom Walls

Bathroom walls need to be water resistant, but not completely waterproof. Hence the choice of finishes is unlimited, as long as it is sealed with wax or some other sealant. Pictured above is a deep grey traditional Venetian plaster, which provides a high sheen and water resistance.
